Nicky is a writer and artist.

Nicky is a freelance journalist and a Master’s student at the NYU Gallatin School pursuing an interdisciplinary degree in film, writing, and American studies.

As culture writer at the Texas Observer, Nicky wrote about film, art, books, Texan artists, and Texas history. Nicky has been a contributing writer at the Cleveland Review of Books and their criticism and reporting have appeared in Dissent, the Guardian, the Brooklyn Rail, Texas Monthly, and elsewhere.

They are a Sewanee Writers’ Conference and Brooklyn Poets alum and led a reading group about David Wojnarowicz at Wendy’s Subway. In summer 2026, their reporting was supported by the Press On Southern Movement Media Fund.
